Big Walk Flares and Flare Gun Guide

House House officially lists flares as a Big Walk tool. The installed release build contains a model named flaregun, but that internal name does not prove combat, damage, ammunition count, or signal duration.

What is the Flares in Big Walk?

Flares naturally fit a game about locating separated friends, but the public feature list only names the item. It does not give a firing tutorial or explain whether every flare is launched from the gun-shaped object found in the build.

This page uses “flares” for the official entity and “flare gun” only when discussing the local model. Keeping those labels separate avoids turning an asset name into an unsupported mechanic.

What does the Flares do?

  • Appear in the official Tools and Toys list as a signaling item.
  • Have a gun-shaped model in the macOS release data.
  • Provide a visually distinct tool that players can recognise in the world.

Evidence from the release build

The local build contains flaregun and FlareGunKernal references. The image is generated from the matching mesh rather than a generic flare illustration.

What is still unknown?

The following details are not treated as facts until they can be reproduced in a released session or documented by House House:

  • Ammunition or recharge rules
  • Signal color and duration
  • Damage, danger, or puzzle interactions

Pickup locations & variants (build evidence)

The release build contains these named variants of the item:

  • Blue flare prop
  • Green flare prop
  • Yellow flare prop

Names come from scene objects in the locally installed macOS Steam build (v1.4.7); they confirm where the item family appears, not spawn rules or availability in every session.
