What is the Backpack in Big Walk?

Portable objects matter because a player can lose them after a tumble or abandon one to pick up another. The backpack appears to relieve part of that carrying pressure and is therefore more than a decorative character accessory.

The release build contains a dedicated BackpackProp plus home, hanger, strap, pavilion, and marker references. Those names confirm a substantial wearable system, but they do not expose the final number of stored objects.

What does the Backpack do?

  • Function as wearable carrying equipment.
  • Help manage portable objects beyond the normal hand-held item.
  • Attach to dedicated backpack home and hanger systems in the build.

Evidence from the release build

Local objects include BackpackProp, BackpackHome, BackpackHanger, backpack straps, and backpack marker references. The image is rendered from the matching backpack-frame model.

What is still unknown?

The following details are not treated as facts until they can be reproduced in a released session or documented by House House:

  • Exact storage capacity
  • Which item sizes fit
  • How and where the backpack is obtained

Pickup locations & variants (build evidence)

The level data names these pickup locations and holders:

  • Backpack Pavilion — Pavilion near the walker spawn area.
  • Forest Backpack Pavilion — Forest-area pavilion.
  • Highlands Backpack Pavilion — Highlands-area pavilion.
  • Monkey Creek Backpack Pavilion — Monkey Creek-area pavilion.
  • Oberon Backpack Pavilion — Oberon-area pavilion.
  • Overlook Backpack Pavilion — Overlook-area pavilion.
  • Red Cone Backpack Pavilion — Red Cone-area pavilion.
  • Underground Backpack Pavilion — Underground-area pavilion.
  • Vereker Backpack Pavilion — Vereker-area pavilion.
  • Crevasse Backpack Pavilion — Crevasse-area pavilion.

Names come from scene objects in the locally installed macOS Steam build (v1.4.7); they confirm where the item family appears, not spawn rules or availability in every session.
